Africa and espescially the UEMOA region is an important region for the world mining production In order to attract private investment in this sector, the Union has recently established a common mining code, aimed at unifying the legal investment climate.

The Union has important mineral ressources in gold, diamond, iron, uranium, coal, steel, manganese, cobalt, marble, copper .

The petroleum market within UEMOA is booming with a huge amount of reserves in certain countries which remain unexploited

The total mining reserves are estimated at several millions of tonnes.
